Possums Vineyard

McLaren Vale, South Australia

Possums vineyard originated from a clever play on words. When you put Owners Dr John Possingham with partner Carol Summers, you get a lovely and fantastically valued wine from the heart of McLaren Vale.

In recent times, we have not been able to find a vineyard from McLaren Vale that has lived up to the high standards and, typically, extravagant prices. Possums vineyard is different. The middle ranged wines truly over-deliver, with James Halliday recently describing them in his newsletter and in the Australian Weekend Magazine as "outstanding value".

Possums have two vineyards in McLaren Vale; one located at Blewitt Springs and one at Willunga. From these vineyards, they produce seven different varieties of fruit with flavours that could only be described at typical from McLaren Vale. Rich fruit, chocolate, balanced tannins and elegant finishes.

We are pleased to stock several vintages of Possums' Shiraz, including the popular 2008 Willunga Shiraz, as well as a very impressive 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon that will continue to develop for another ten years.

Although we have been blessed with some truly great reds from the Barossa Valley recently, it is also nice to try some of what the quieter neighbour has to offer ; it could be argued that McLaren Vale produces far more subtle and structured wines and here we have the true fruit driven style that we always seek !

Come and try these and we are sure that you will be as keen as we are to enjoy these wines for some time to come.
